Recalls: All books may be recalled from any borrower and will be due 1 week from the recall date. Only UR students, faculty and staff have recall privileges. Courtesy Borrowers may not recall books. Recalls may be placed on-line using the "Place Requests" option in the Voyager Catalog or at any UR library.
Reserves: Reserve materials are available at the Carlson Library Circulation/Reserve desk on the 2nd floor. Most reserve items may be borrowed for 2 hours, a few have longer loan periods such as 4 hours, 1,3,or 7 days. Unlike other River Campus Libraries, Carlson's 2 and 4 hour reserve items may not be borrowed overnight. Reserve materials borrowed from Carlson Library must be returned to the Circulation/Reserve Desk at Carlson Library.
Non-Circulating Materials: Some non-circulating materials, including Reference Books may be borrowed with the permission of a Librarian. Ask at the Reference desk on the 1st floor of Carlson.
Returning Library Materials: Most Carlson Library Books may be returned to any UR Library. Exceptions to this include: reserve materials, current journal issues, reference materials, maps and technical reports. These must be returned directly to Carlson Library.
Renewing Library Materials: Most Carlson Library Books may be renewed an unlimited number of times unless another borrower places a recall. Renewals can be done online or at any UR library. Special Collections have limited or no renewals. This would include Journals, Reserve Materials, books from the Browsing Collection, and Maps.
Fines:
- Books/Journals - No overdue fines are charged for regular loans. Until items become 30 days overdue they can be renewed on-line, at any UR library, or by phone (585-275-4488). After 30 days, replacement cost (list price; or, if out of print - $40.00) plus a processing fee ($10.00) are assessed. These fees will be waived once the materials are brought into the library for renewal or return.
- Recalled Items - $1.00/day to a maximum of $15.00.
- Reserves - 2-hour - $1.00/hour. 1,3,7 days - $1.00/day to a maximum of $30.00.
Paying Fines: Fines may be paid at the Circulation Desk using cash or personal check. If the total is more than $10.00 students may choose to have the fines transferred to their term bill.
Suspension of Borrowing Privileges:
Borrowing privileges at all UR River Campus Libraries will be automatically suspended when:
- Fines accrue to $15.00
- An item is 30 days overdue
- A recalled item is overdue
