The Wireless Network is available throughout the libraries. To use the network, follow the instructions on the ITS Wireless page. To connect to the Internet using a laptop or handheld device, current students, faculty and staff need a NetID and a wireless card. Visitors may request a Guest NetID at the Rush Rhees Library Circulation Desk or at the Carlson Library Circulation Desk.
Assessing library resources from off campus All electronic library resources, including e-journals, databases and course reserves, are available to current students, faculty and staff from off campus either using a NetID logon, or in certain circumstances, VPN access. When you click on the link of a restricted library resource from the libraries' website, you will be prompted to login with your NetID and password.
Need help with NetID? Using VPN VPN stands for Virtual Private Networking and is a client that establishes a connection in such a way that you appear to be part of the University network. Some off-campus access to client databases, such as SciFinder Scholar and CrossFire, are not available through the NetID login as described above. To access these sources while off campus, you must use VPN. VPN uses NetID for authentication. You must log in to the secure VPN page to download the proper client and acquire setup instructions.
