Open Access Book Launch

Open Access Book Launch

VISTA Collaboratory, Carlson Library
June 12, 2017 4:00pm to 5:30pm

Come support River Campus Libraries’ first endeavor as open access publisher with the publication of Drosophilids of the Midwest and Northeast. Co-written by John Jaenike from the University of Rochester and Thomas Werner from Michigan Technological University, the book provides an introduction to the Drosophilidae fly family of the Midwest and Northeast of the United States, as well as nearby regions in Canada. The book also offers tools that can help readers identify most of the Drosophilid species in the region, and shares interesting facts about Drosophilid biology and suggestions for future research on them.

As open access has proven to be a major issue in the world of academic publishing, River Campus Libraries is proud to be a leader in open access initiatives. Please join us to become part of this important conversation.

Dean Mary Ann Mavrinac will provide welcome and remarks, followed by Professors Werner and Jaenikea's comments on their experience writing the book. Light refreshments will be served.
