Hardlight VR

Hardlight VR

Rush Rhees Library
September 11, 2017 10:15am to 3:30pm

University of Rochester alumni Morgan Sinko '16, Lucian Copeland '16, and Jordan Brooks '16 are the founders of Hardlight VR, a startup that is producing the first affordable haptic feedback suit for virtual reality. Join them for any of three events hosted by the River Campus Libraries on Monday, September 11, 2017 on the main floor of Rush Rhees Library:

10:15am–11:45am, Lam Square: Demonstration of Hardlight VR

Try on Hardlight and experience its use in a virtual environment. The inventors will be on hand to demonstrate and answer questions about the technology.

1:00pm–2:00pm, Hawkins-Carlson Room: "From Student to Startup: Hardlight VR"

Join alumni Morgan Sinko ’16, Lucian Copeland ’16, and Jordan Brooks ’16 as they tell their story of going from engineering undergrads to the founders of a cutting-edge hardware startup. They’ll share their journey from ideation, to a successful Kickstarter campaign, through to founding a company.

2:30pm–3:30pm, Hawkins-Carlson Room: Researcher Roundtable: Haptics and VR.

Hardlight is interested in exploring research applications for haptic feedback in virtual environments and would like to chat with researchers who are working in this area. Some of the topics they’re interested in exploring include:

- donating their hardware to labs

- participating in capstone projects, and

- exploring opportunities to fund small-scale research projects.

Questions about the events may be directed to Lauren Di Monte, Data & Research Impact Librarian (ldimonte@library.rochester.edu) or Grant Dever, iZone Community Manager (gdever@library.rochester.edu)
