Rush Rhees Library

Designed to serve as a centerpiece of the River Campus when it was dedicated in 1930, Rush Rhees Library is now home to the Art and Music Library, the Barbara J. Burger iZone, the Janis and James S. Gleason Library, the Department of Rare Books, Special Collections, and Preservation, and the Rossell Hope Robbins Library and Koller-Collins Center for English Studies, and the University Archives.

Carlson Science & Engineering Library

Carlson Library provides collections specific to biology, biomedical engineering, chemistry, chemical engineering, computer science, earth and environmental sciences, electrical and computer engineering, mathematical sciences, and mechanical engineering. It is also home to the VISTA Collaboratory, a state-of-the-art data visualization lab on the library’s first floor.

Physics, Optics & Astronomy

The Physics-Optics-Astronomy Library (POA) supports the instructional and research needs of students and faculty in the Department of Physics and Astronomy and the Institute of Optics. While it is open to the public every day and most evenings during the academic year, declared departmental majors, graduate students, and the faculty enjoy 24/7 access.

Driving Directions

From the East

Use Thruway Exit 46; take I-390 North to Exit 17. Turn left onto Scottsville Road. At the second light, bear right onto Elmwood Avenue. Cross the Genesee River Bridge and take a left onto Wilson Boulevard. Stop at the Visitor Information Booth to purchase a visitor's parking permit, or for directions to metered spaces, and further directions for navigating around campus.

From the West

Use Thruway Exit 47, take I-490 East to I-390 South to Exit 17. Take a left onto Scottsville Road. At the third light, bear right onto Elmwood Avenue. Cross the Genesee River Bridge and take a left onto Wilson Boulevard. Stop at the Visitor Information Booth to purchase a visitor's parking permit, or for directions to metered spaces, and further directions for navigating around campus.

From the South

Turn right onto Brooks Avenue. Take I-390 South to Exit 17 - RIT-383/Scottsville Rd. Keep LEFT at the fork in the ramp. Turn LEFT onto Scottsville Rd. At the 2nd signal light bear RIGHT on Elmwood Avenue. After the bridge over the Genesee River, turn LEFT onto Wilson Boulevard. Stop at the Visitor Information Booth to purchase a visitor's parking permit, or for directions to metered spaces, and further directions for navigating around campus.
