After a four-month nationwide search, the University found its fourth Andrew H. and Janet Dayton Neilly Dean of the University of Rochester Libraries. Kevin Garewal, associate director of collections at Harvard Law School Library, will begin his tenure in February 2022.

Garewal succeeds Dean Mary Ann Mavrinac, who was installed as the Neilly Dean in 2012. After almost a decade of serving in this role, Mavrinac is retiring and will officially step down in January.
