Nancy Kuivila

Former academic librarian, on NC State University Foundation Board

Nancy Kuivila and her husband became active supporters of NC State University Libraries after relocating to Raleigh from Rochester, NY.  As former academic librarians, they understood the importance of libraries in education and looked for a university library “home” in the Research Triangle. They joined the Friends of the Library in 1987 and, over the years, have expanded their support as Life Members, endowment holders, and through planned giving.  Nancy was elected to the Friends of the Libraries Board in 2009, chaired the Development, Engagement, and Nominations committees, and served as President from 2020-2022.  In 2024, she was elected to the NC State University Foundation Board.

Nancy became interested in information technology while working in academic libraries and spent most of her career working in IT-related consulting, management, and project management in government, financial services, and technology organizations. She received a BA from Smith College, an MS in Library and Information Sciences from the University at Albany, and an MBA from the University of Rochester.
