John Lippincott

Past president of the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE)

From 2004 to 2015, John Lippincott served as president of the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE), a membership association focused on fundraising, alumni relations, communications, and marketing at schools, colleges and universities around the world.

Under his leadership, CASE reached record levels of membership, revenues, and reserves; established CASE Asia-Pacific and CASE America Latina; strengthened operations in Europe and North America; and expanded services to members in areas such as research and advocacy.

Lippincott first joined CASE in 1999 as vice president for communications and marketing. Previously, he was associate vice chancellor for advancement at the University System of Maryland, where he provided communications support for two system-wide fundraising campaigns. He has also served as director of college relations at Ithaca College, as a public affairs officer at the National Endowment for the Humanities, and as a faculty member at community colleges in New York and Oregon.

After retiring from CASE, Lippincott advised leading colleges and universities on their advancement programs, both as an “of counsel” member of the consulting firm Marts & Lundy and as an independent consultant.

He holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Wesleyan University and an honorary doctorate from Widener University.
