Digital Scriptorium 2026 Registration Form
We look forward to welcoming you to this year's Digital Scriptorium annual meeting on Thursday and Friday, September 17-18 2026 at the University of Rochester and Rochester Institute of Technology in Rochester, New York. A tentative schedule for the meeting may be found below.

Schedule
Thursday, Sept. 17
2pm - 5pm: Meeting of the Board of Directors (University of Rochester, Gamble Room, 3rd floor of Rush Rhees Library)
Following the meeting, a reception will be held in the Rossell Hope Robbins Library for Medieval Studies

Friday, Sept. 18
Morning events will be held at the University of Rochester
9am-1pm: Drop in manuscript display in Rare Books & Special Collections (2nd floor, Rush Rhees Library)
9am-10am: Coffee and Refreshments in Robbins Library (4th floor, Rush Rhees Library)
10am-12pm: Digital Scriptorium General Meeting in the Gamble Room (3rd floor, Rush Rhees Library)
12pm-1pm: Lunch in Rare Books & Special Collections (2nd floor, Rush Rhees Library)
Afternoon events will be held at the Rochester Institute of Technology
1pm-1:30pm: Transportation available to RIT
2pm-4pm: Visit to RIT for a cultural heritage imaging, preservation, and research showcase. Attendees will have the opportunity to visit collections, participate in hands-on activities, and hear about work being done at RIT in multispectral imaging, color science, collections care and preservation. The afternoon begins at the Cary Graphic Arts Collection for a welcome and hands-on printing activity where everyone can create their own keepsake using a modern press. Attendees then disperse to different locations within the Wallace Library and the SHED (Student Hall for Exploration and Development) to meet students and researchers from a number of RIT research labs
4pm-5pm: Refreshments in the Cary Graphic Arts Collection

Accommodations
We have reserved a block of rooms at the Staybridge Suites - Rochester University (1000 Genesee Street, Rochester), which can be booked at a reduced rate of $169 / night. The hotel is a short walk across the Genesee River via a pedestrian bridge to Rush Rhees Library. Please utilize this booking link. The link will auto populate for 9/16/26 - 9/19/26, but the dates can be adjusted to anything within that date range. The reduced rate is available until 8/17/26.

Travel
Note that transportation between the University of Rochester and RIT will be provided by the hosts
Car
Rochester is located in Western New York, close to Interstate-90. It is approximately 1 hour via car from Buffalo, 1.5 hours via car from Syracuse, and 3 hours via car from Toronto.
Air
Rochester is served by the Frederick Douglass Greater Rochester International Airport (ROC). The airport is less than a 4-mile drive from Rush Rhees Library on the University of Rochester campus and less than 6 miles from RIT's library. Information on transport to and from the airport can be found on the airport's transportation website.
Train and Bus
Amtrak’s Empire Service, Maple Leaf, and Lake Shore Limited routes arrive at Rochester’s Amtrak Station. Bus companies Greyhound, Trailways, and Megabus serve Rochester daily.
Parking
On-campus parking at the University of Rochester will be provided in the Library Lot (300 Intercampus Drive). A passcode for the entry gate will be shared with registrants via email prior to the meeting.
Transportation will be provided from URochester to RIT. If you drive to RIT in your own vehicle, you will need to obtain a visitor's parking pass from the welcome kiosk located at 100 Lomb Memorial Dr, Rochester, NY 14623.
Organizing Committee
Anna Siebach-Larsen is the director of the Rossell Hope Robbins Library and Koller-Collins Center for English Studies at the University of Rochester Libraries.
Juilee Decker is Professor of History and Director of the Museum Studies Program at Rochester Institute of Technology. Decker co-directs the Cultural Heritage Imaging Lab at RIT, an interdisciplinary research, education, and training partnership between museum studies and imaging science.
Eric Ensley is the Joseph N. Lambert and Harold B. Schleifer Director of Rare Books, Special Collections, & Preservation at the University of Rochester Libraries. His research has focused on the use of medical imaging technologies on medieval and early modern books.
Steven Galbraith is Curator of the Cary Graphic Arts Collection at Rochester Institute of Technology. He is the author of A Brief History of the Book: From Tablet to Tablet and Rare Book Librarianship: An Introduction and Guide.
