Through a series of tailored hands-on workshops and projects, attendees will leave empowered with the skills, methods and mindsets they need to spark action through meaningful change in their department and university.
Our curriculum is built around three main methodologies:
- Change Management: a set of methods for preparing teams to thrive during and after organizational change.
- Design Thinking: a human-centered problem-solving process used by leading organizations to create innovative solutions.
- Project Management: a set of tools for efficiently managing the scope, schedule, and budget for projects.
Powered by Change is designed to help you tackle many of the most pressing challenges facing academic institutions, such as:
- Budget and resource constraints
- Organizations that struggle to evolve and innovate
- Difficulty gaining support for new ideas
Participants will walk away confident in their ability to lead change on their own campus, as well as:
- A certificate in Higher Education Change Management
- A toolbox of resources, templates, and case studies
- Access to a supportive, creative peer community

Where is the program?
The University of Rochester (UR) in beautiful Rochester, NY! You’ll spend the week at the Barbara J. Burger iZone, UR’s academic innovation center in the heart of Rush Rhees Library.
What is the program cost?
- $3,000/person for one attendee
- $2,800/person for a team of two from the same University
- $2,600/person for a team of three from the same University
I work at an MSI (Minority Serving Institution). Are there scholarships available?
Yes! We have a limited number of partial scholarships available for attendees from Minority Serving Institutions. See if you qualify here. The cost after the scholarship is:
- $800/person for one attendee
- $700/person for two attendees
Who should attend?
This program is designed for higher education staff, such as administrators, librarians, and library staff. Faculty and instructors are welcome, but please be aware that the focus of the workshop is not on pedagogy.
What’s included?
We provide breakfast and lunch each day. You’re on your own for dinner but don’t worry, we’ll help you find great places to eat!
Travel and lodging are not included.

Julia is the founding Director of iZone, a 12,000 square foot innovation space at the University of Rochester Libraries. Before coming to UR she was a leader in the energy industry in Seattle, helping large organizations innovate and prepare for major business transformations. Ask her about her failed popsicle business and her cat named Sofa.

Lindsay Cronk
Head of Collection Strategies and Scholarly Communications, University of Rochester Libraries
Lindsay is a user-centered collection strategist and library leader. She’s spent nearly a decade in librarianship, first in consortia and now in academia, honing an approach that is data-driven, dynamic, and grounded in the pursuit of social justice. She’s been described as an “innovator and boundary-pusher” and also “covered in tattoos and full of strong opinions.”
