A hand in the shape of a heart around Rush Rhees Library

As I sat down to write this message, the thought that immediately came to mind is how surreal this is. It’s a Tuesday at 11:15 a.m., and I’m working from home. So are our staff members and most of our University colleagues. And hopefully, you’re at home as you read this.

The COVID-19 situation has disrupted almost every aspect of our normal lives. But we can and have adapted because our primary concern since this began has been the health of our patrons and staff. Every decision we make going forward—and every decision made thus far—will take health and safety in account above all else.

To say we have been working in uncharted waters doesn’t quite capture the depth and scope of the circumstance, nor the speed at which they have changed. Yet, through all we have faced, the constant has been our commitment to teaching, learning, research, and exploring  at the University. You can see the extent of this on our COVID-19 libraries support and information page.

For all other information related to how the University is responding to COVID-19 developments, as well as many helpful resources to stay safe and informed, please refer to the University’s main COVID-19  updates and resources page

As we finish the semester, we will be doing our best to provide essential resources, personal assistance, expert guidance, and the reminder that Meliora can happen anywhere.

Above all, I hope you and those you care about are healthy and taking precautions to stay that way. Be well, and take heart that we will get through this.
