About the Dean

Maurini Strub is an experienced systems thinker who has specialized in Strategic Organizational Performance, Assessment, User Experience, and Space & Service Design. In August 2024, she began her role as the interim Vice Provost and interim Andrew H. & Janet Dayton Neilly Dean of the University of Rochester Libraries. With a strong background in fostering user engagement and aligning institutional strategies with user-centered design principles, Maurini is committed to building meaningful connections between libraries and the communities they serve.

Throughout her career, Maurini has demonstrated expertise in developing and implementing strategies that drive organizational growth, including leadership in data-informed decision-making, cross-institutional collaborations, and program evaluation. Before assuming her interim role, she served as Assistant Dean for Strategy & Planning at the University of Rochester Libraries, where she was the co-architect of the libraries' strategic plan. She is also a past Association of Research Libraries Leadership & Career Development Program Fellow.

Maurini’s academic and professional journey reflects her dedication to advancing the role of libraries in higher education. She holds a Master of Science in Information from the University of Michigan and a Bachelor of Arts in Biology from Oakland University. Her career includes impactful contributions to academic libraries, particularly in space assessment, service improvement, and professional associations.

Driven by a strong belief in the power of storytelling, Maurini excels in aligning institutional objectives with user needs, fostering an environment of innovation and collaboration. Her strategic vision ensures that libraries remain vital to the success of students, faculty, and the broader academic community.
