Transportation to the University of Rochester

Car Travel
Rochester is located in Western New York, close to Interstate-90. It is approximately 1 hour via car from Buffalo, 1.5 hours via car from Syracuse, and 3 hours via car from Toronto.

Air Travel
Rochester International Airport (ROC) is served by all major US Airlines. The major connection hubs are Atlanta, Baltimore, Boston, Charlotte, Chicago, Detroit, Las Vegas, Newark, NYC, and Philadelphia. Buffalo Niagara International Airport (BUF) is approximately 1 hour from Rochester. There are buses from the Buffalo airport to Rochester via Trailways and Megabus.

Ground Transportation from ROC Airport
Many hotels offer shuttle service to and from the airport, which is approximately 10 minutes from the University of Rochester. Taxies, public buses, and Uber/Lyft are also available.

Train and Bus Travel
Amtrak’s Empire Service, Maple Leaf, and Lake Shore Limited routes arrive at Rochester’s Amtrak Station. Bus companies Greyhound, Trailways, and Megabus serve Rochester daily.

 

 

Parking Information

Comprehensive information on parking locations and permits can be found on the River Campus Visitor Parking page. Parking permits are required on the River Campus from 7:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., except on weekends. You can obtain parking permits and ask any questions about parking on campus at the Information Booth located on Wilson Blvd. (directly after the main entrance to campus).
