The effort to reduce library materials expenditures has concluded
Friedlander Lobby

Dear Colleagues,

With your thoughtful input and participation, the River Campus Libraries have successfully concluded the effort to reduce their library materials expenditure by $500k. This effort will help support the long-term financial health of the University and ensure sustainable access to scholarship. The finalized list of reductions is available to you. Thank you again for your time and your feedback.

In collaboration with the campus community, the library’s expert team used a holistic and data-informed approach to achieve the necessary permanent reduction intended to help support the $7 million structural deficit in AS&E. While this effort is concluded, you can always keep up with our Collection Strategy and Scholarly Communications efforts in real time through a variety of channels, including the Library’sSustainable Scholarship webpage which features ongoing updates on our process.

As always, the libraries collections are there for you. You can provide feedback and input through your department’s designated Outreach Librarian. As your library liaison, a member of Outreach will be following up with you after this email.

If you have questions or input on the journal cancellation process or collection strategies, please do not hesitate to contact Lindsay Cronk, River Campus Libraries’ Head of Collection Strategies and Scholarly Communications. If you are interested in learning more about the library's negotiations and strategies we encourage you to sign up for our discussion sessions.

Thank you, in advance, for your input and participation.

Best regards,

Mary Ann Mavrinac
