Travel
SHARP 2025 takes place in an in-person format Monday, July 7, through Friday, July 11. Some sessions may include presentations by proxy or by recording.
Rochester is located in Western New York, close to Interstate-90. It is approximately 1 hour via car from Buffalo, 1.5 hours via car from Syracuse, and 3 hours via car from Toronto.
NB: when booking travel, please ensure that you are booking to Rochester, New York, not Rochester, Minnesota!
Air Travel
Rochester International Airport (ROC) is served by multiple airlines, including American, Delta, United, jetBlue, Southwest, spirit, and allegiant. The major connection hubs are Atlanta, Baltimore, Boston, Charlotte, Chicago, Detroit, Las Vegas, Newark, NYC, and Philadelphia. Buffalo Niagara International Airport (BUF) is approximately 1 hour from Rochester. There are buses from Buffalo to Rochester via Trailways and Megabus.
Train and Bus Travel
Amtrak trains (Empire Service, Maple Leaf, and Lake Shore Limited routes, as well as Greyhound, Trailways, and Megabus serve Rochester daily.
Ground Transportation from the Airport
Many hotels offer shuttles service to and from the airport, which is approximately 10 minutes from the University of Rochester. Taxi service, public buses, and Uber/Lyft are also available.
Rochester Transit
The University of Rochester offers a free shuttle service that links University of Rochester's River Campus (the main conference site) with several neighborhoods, including the South Wedge, Neighborhood of the Arts, and Downtown Rochester. NB: No University ID is needed.
Rochester Transit Service has several buses that stop near River Campus.
Travel to Wednesday reception & RIT
The Wednesday night reception will be held at the Memorial Art Gallery, in Rochester's Neighborhood of the Arts. Buses will be provided to the reception, departing from the Rush Rhees Library's Library Road entrance at 5:20, 5:40, 6:00, and 6:20 pm. As Memorial Art Gallery is located close to several conference hotels, buses will not be provided back to UR campus.
Thursday afternoon's sessions and events will take place at the Rochester Institute of Technology. Buses from UR to RIT will pick up at 12:20 and 1:00 PM (Rush Rhees Library, Library Road entrance). Buses will return to UR from RIT at 6:50 and 7:30 pm.
